New possibilities on the ecumenical journey
Rev Lindsey Sanderson, Assistant General Secretary of Action of Churches Together in Scotland, was the keynote speaker at Glasgow Churches Together’s annual general meeting on Wednesday October 28.
Her theme was ‘Simple Gifts: new possibilities on the ecumenical journey’. A transcript of the address can be downloaded as a PDF file (150kb).
At the meeting Major Steve Huyton of the Salvation Army in Rutherglen succeeded Rev Mary Buchanan of the United Reformed Church as Chair of Glasgow Churches Together.
Major Huyton has been a Salvation Army officer for 31 years and is currently serving his third period of duty in Scotland. He was previously involved in ecumenical organisations in Surrey and Kent.
“The ecumenical scene is wonderful in Scotland and we must do everything we can to nurture the relationships and fellowships we have,” he said.
“May we continue through God’s grace and power to go the extra mile to build bridges to glorify God.”
The new Vice-Chair is Monsignor Gerry Fitzpatrick of St Leo the Great, Dumbreck.
