Celebration of the life of Glasgow through word, music, and song with its churches and ‘new Glaswegians’.
Special events are being held this weekend to mark the feast day of Saint Mungo, Glasgow’s patron saint: a celebration at the Mitchell Library on Saturday followed by Ecumenical Vespers for St Mungo at Glasgow Cathedral on Sunday.
This is a significant year for John Knox, writes Ed McCracken. It is 450 years since the Scottish Reformation, when Scotland split from the Catholic Church and became a Protestant country, of which Knox was a key architect.

An ecumenical service of blessing of the Crib in George Square will be held on Thursday 3 December at 5.30 pm. The Lord Provost will be joined by representatives of the Glasgow Churches and by school children from St Francis’ Primary School and Gorbals Primary School with members of the St Mungo Singers and a band from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
A major Glasgow celebration of our national patron, St Andrew, will take place at 7 pm on Monday 30th November, the traditional feastday, in Calton Parkhead Church of Scotland, 122 Helenvale Street, Glasgow G31 4NA.
