Go For It enews: April 2018

Wishing you a Happy Easter from Go For It

Go For It would like to wish everyone a Happy Easter.

It is lovely to see the daffodils start to show their bright, sunny, yellow colour and see signs of the season slowly changing after a cold and long winter.

We see many new exciting projects on the horizon as new grant proposals come in to Go For It.  It is very encouraging to read of new ideas, see piloted projects take shape and to hear of new ways that faith is expressed in the wider community.

Annual Visit with the Moderator

Each year Go For It invites the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland to visit a number of Go For It funded projects, focusing on a different presbytery in Scotland each year.

This year the Right Rev Derek Browning visited the Centipede Project in Muirhouse, Duddingston Kirk Glebe and the FAST project in Clermiston, all located in the presbytery of Edinburgh.

Following the visit, the Moderator said “each ‘project is’ inspirational in their own right, all started with an idea which has grown and transformed the lives of the churches and the communities they serve.

Go For It is a jewel in the life of the Church of Scotland and any church seeking to serve its local community can tap into its resources of money, training and support.”

The full story of the day can be found here.

Go For It Projects shine at YouthLink Scotland Awards

A number of Go For It funded projects, their staff and volunteers, had their hard work, enthusiasm and commitment recognised at the recent YouthLink Scotland awards.

We are proud of all of you

2018 is the Year of Young People and we would love to hear any inspirational stories from Go For It funded, and previously funded projects.

Free Learning and Training Opportunities

Go For It
offers an annual programme of free learning and training workshops for all funded and potential projects.

Our Let’s Evaluate: Monitoring and Evaluation Training begins on April 12  where Evaluation Support Scotland will present the first of three sessions to help projects and potential projects learn about setting good outcomes and indicators, measure and share their learnings with others.  Session 2: Make to Measure is held on April 27 and Session 3: Telling My Story on May 10.

This course comes highly recommended and will help projects report to Go For It and other funders as well as learning to evaluate what they need from their own projects.

Fit For Funding: will help projects and churches increase their knowledge of funding and enable them to best position themselves for a successful funding application.  The popular workshop will be held in Glasgow on April 24.

And our training workshop on Social Media: will help projects use social media to help promote and support their work This workshop will be held on May 1 in Edinburgh.
