Join our Saint Mungo celebrations
Special events are being held this weekend to mark the feast day of Saint Mungo, Glasgow’s patron saint.
Mungo Celebration
Saturday 9 January from 12:00 – 13:00 at the Mitchell Library.
A short celebration in word and song. Archbishop Mario Conti and Dr Laurence Whitley will read from the “Vita Kentigerni”. Children from St Patrick’s Primary and Anderston Primary will sing the new St Enoch song, the St Mungo Singers will sing part of the St Mungo Vespers and the Glasgow anthem “Let Glasgow Flourish”, and the Glasgow Russian choir will sing a short Trisagion.
A copy of the “Vita” will be on display, together with an icon of St. Kentigern which was painted for the dedication of the Russian Orthodox church in Glasgow.
Ecumenical Vespers for St Mungo
Sunday 10 January, 18:30 – 19:30 at Glasgow Cathedral.
The Very Rev John Miller, former Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, will preach this Sunday at the now annual Ecumenical Vespers at Glasgow Cathedral at 6.30 – a moment when all the churches of the city can take some time to thank God for all the blessings he has poured out on this city and to entrust to Him all who live and work here.
