The Very Rev Dr Sheilagh Kesting retired as Ecumenical Officer and Secretary to the Ecumenical Relations Committee at the end of September after having served in that role for 23 years. We wish Sheilagh a long and happy retirement.

Rev Dr John McPake has been seconded to serve as Interim Ecumenical Officer. Dr McPake is currently minister of Mossneuk Parish Church, East Kilbride and had recently served as Acting Clerk of the Presbytery of Hamilton.

In the wider church, Dr McPake has served as Convener and Vice Convener of the Panel on Doctrine and is a member of the Joint Commission on Doctrine (Church of Scotland/Roman Cathokic Church). Dr McPake is joint-convener of the Faith and Order dialogue with the Church of England and represented the Church of Scotland on the Community of Protestant Churches in Europe.

The post is an interim one as the Ecumenical Relations Committee is under review. The review group is to consult widely with other denominations, ecumenical bodies and Councils and Committees of the Church. A report is to be brought to the General for approval in May 2017.
